Los Alamitos Joint Force Training Base (JFTB) Solar Project
Los Alamitos Joint Force Training Base (JFTB) Solar Project encompasses 31.5 MW of solar power capacity, a 20-MW/40-MWh battery storage system, and 3 MW of tier 4 backup generators. The project's microgrid controls ensure efficient power distribution and utilization, aligning with the U.S. Army's climate strategy mandating microgrid installations by 2035.
Designed to provide power resiliency for the Joint Forces Training Base and the surrounding grid operated by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), the Los Alamitos project showcases a holistic approach to energy sustainability. By offering 100-percent backup power during emergencies and supplying solar energy for the community during normal operations, this initiative serves as a reliable and sustainable alternative electricity resource.
